Merdeka Day

Classes are closed for 2 weeks as the Nation of Malaysia celebrates her 53rd Independence Day. It was on 31 August 1957 that Malaya got its independence from Britain. Please pray for the nation as she goes through rapid change. Pray that there will be good governance and that the freedom of religion will always be upheld. The Christian Community has begun a 40 day prayer and fasting which will end on 16 September. This is the Day when the states of Sabah and Sarawak came together with West Malaysia to form the new nation of Malaysia. Pray that the Church will always be a light shining in places of darkness.

Passing away of ND’s Mother

Madam Josephine Narcis David, mother of our National Director Rev Fred David, went to be with the Lord when he was teaching the class in Klang on Monday 23 August 2010 at 9.45pm. Earlier in the day Fred went and spent an extended time with his mother, talking and encouraging her and reading the psalms to her. He left her with his elder sister and wife Yoke Fong who came later to nurse her.

God saw that it was best to call her home and at 9.45 that night she went to be with the Lord peacefully at the home of Fred’s younger brother. The wake service was held on Tuesday 24 August.

Fred preached a powerful message at her funeral service on Wednesday 25 August, which was held at St. Paul’s Church PJ, where Fred is also the Vicar. The church was full of relatives and friends. Representatives of the CBSI Classes in the country came to pay their past respects and to be with Fred either at the wake service or the funeral service. It was indeed a beautiful send off for a loving mother.

Fred and Yoke Fong thank all for their messages of condolences and generous gifts at their time of bereavement. In all this the Lord was glorified. AMEN

Daniel celebrates Birthday

One of the small group leaders of the Klang Class which is studying the Book of Daniel, is also named Daniel. On Monday 23 August after the lecture, the Class sang Happy Birthday to Daniel. It was such a joy as members came up to wish him God’s Blessings. Daniel choose to spend his birthday with his class. That’s commitment for all.

Son beaten-up in School

Please pray as I have just received news that Avinash the son of our CBSI Director for India was beaten up in school. Dev and Koko have been aggressively promoting CBSI and Christian ministry in Nagaland. They live in Dimapur. There is a rising opposition to anything Christian in India. But Nagaland is very Christian and this to happen to Avinash is very surprising. Please uphold Devendra and Koko and the family at this time. Please also pray for their staff workers in Dimapur.

ARCHBISHOP visits PJ Class

Bringing Greetings from Bangladesh

The Archbishop of Bangladesh, the Rt. Rev Paul Sarker paid a visit to the PJ Class. He and his wife sat in on the leaders council and the later joined some of the small groups. They also attended the lecture. Asked of their experience, they said’ ” we don’t have such bible studies in our country. It would be good to have a group in Dhaka. ” Rev Fred will further explore the opportunity when he visits Bangladesh in October and March next year. Please pray for “Open Doors”,

Importance of Small Group leaders

In a CBSI Class, nothing can replace the small group leader. Thus the training of these faithful men and women is always a priority. They need encouragement and prayer and we want to assure them that they are always prayed for by the National Team as well as their own class members. To some small group leaders this may come as a surprise. Keep up the good work![/caption]

No Age Barrier to Study

It is a tremendous joy to see some senior people come to the CBSI Class in Klang. In the Class leaders time before the class, it is always emphasied that we as small group leaders need to make members feel Comfortable, Confident and Cared

Regional Director refused Entry

Peter Hanscamp, our regional director for Asia Pacific was refused entry into India last week. He was intensely interviewed by the Immigration officials and was told that if he was on “missionary work” he would need a different visa. It seems the many Asian nations are beginning to be “overly cautious” of who comes into their countries. We do not know the real cause but we can guess.

Peter was sent back to Dubai and is a little disappointed as there were lined up for him a series of meetings in India. Please pray. Maybe it is time that we need to set up more national ministry teams as a new wave of closing doors to the Gospel become evident.

2 Marys of the Klang Class

Our class in Klang is honoured to have 2 Marys. One is May Das who is the class coordinator and looks to getting all the material ready while the other is Mary James who sees that each week various groups will be responsible for the refreshments for the members. CBSI for Evangelists and Church Planters

Welcome to Pyin Oo Lwin

Fred David was in Myanmar from 21-30 July 2010 helping to set up the School of Evangelists and Church Planters for the Anglican Church in Myanmar. This was in the Hill Station of Pyin Oo Lwin. This is a town 3500 ft above sea-level where in the past the English in the cities of Rangoon and Mandalay would retreat for the summer. The weather is so pleasant that you could be out for the whole days and not feel tired.

Studying Book of James

Part of the training was to teach the participants to do Bible Study. Fred choose to do the book of James and thus was able to introduce them to CBSI. Praise God for the opportunity. The participants are going to take these studies in their own native languages to the various areas they are assigned to work.
