OUR BEGINNINGS
“CBSI Malaysia” took roots in the country first in the East Malaysian state of Sabah in 1997. Rev Canon Fred David, who was the Archdeacon for the Interior of Sabah, for the Anglican Church, was doing a a sabbatical in Austin, Texas, God had placed upon his heart for a good discipleship programme for the Interior Church. He was invited one day to St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Austin and discovered on a Thursday morning there were 400-500 people gathered for Bible Study. That was his first introduction to the ministry of CBSI. He was amazed that people were getting deep into God’s word.

While in Austin he made contact with Earl and Betty Reeves the Asia Pacific Directors for CBSI. When they were in Singapore later that year, Fred went to be trained by them and ever since has never looked back of his involvement in CBSI.

The first class in Malaysia was strangely enough in the Malay language on the Book of James. Fred was also the principal of the School of Evangelism and used CBSI material for his students.

In the year 2001, two other classes began in the city of Kota Kinabalu one in English and the other in Chinese. These classes are still running.

OUR HOPE:
That in all the 13 States of the country there will be at least one CBSI Class. (Please see list on classes page for more information.) The desire is to see people confident in handling God’s Word and through it their lives will be transformed. This will begin to change the spiritual climate of our country.

OUR ACCOUNTABILITY:
The Board of Directors of CBSI Malaysia will operate under the company’s act. A company has been set up and will be known as CB Studies Malaysia Bhd. We will use this name for matters pertaining to the Companies Commission and the Banks. For all other purposes we will refer to ourselves as CBSI Malaysia. This will be a non profit making company.

OUR FINANCIAL POLICY:
We trust the Lord for the funds to run ministry. We encourage classes to make special contributions for the ministry and a yearly “Ministry Needs Appeal” goes out to all our prayer and financial supporters.
