CBSI Board thanks Mr. John Liew, JP

The CBSI Board expresses it deepest thanks and gratitude to Mr. John Liew, JP who was one of the founding members of CBSI Malaysia. This was way back in 1998, when the ministry took off in Sabah initiated by the Rev Canon Fred David who was later to become the first National Director in 2007.

Mr. John Liew taught the first Chinese Class of over 40 members in Kota Kinabalu. They studied the Gospel of Luke.

Mr. John Liew has been a faithful church leader, elder and preacher. His love for the Word of God is seen in his willingness to go to anywhere, where people desired and hungered for the Word. He has been a great co-worker in the teaching of the Word and we will surely miss him as he takes his well earned retirement.
We look to his continued support to the ministry of CBSI Malaysia.

John was awarded the following awards by the State Government of Sabah.
1976 – ASDK and in 1977 Justice of Peace.

CBSI Malaysia wishes John a Happy retirement and pray for his continued health.

We love God’s Word

The Board of Directors for CBSI Malaysia met on Thursday 23 February for their first meeting for 2012. The meeting was chaired by Rev Dr. Datuk Yeoh Beng San the Board Chairman. His opening words were,” We are here because we love God’s Word and this is one ministry that touches people’s lives” The Board endorsed the plans for the growth of the ministry presented by the National Director. They are also believing that God will provide the necessary funds to see our plans through.

One of the decisions taken was to produce a Newsletter twice a year, one at Easter and the other at Christmas, where we will use this as a vehicle of appealing for funds for CBSI Malaysia.

Classes to Commence

We are pleased to announced that all classes will once again commence after the Chinese New Year break. Please be informed that there will be some new classes in the Damansara and Cheras areas. Please inform your friends who love to study the Word of God seriously. (Look out for the class list to be announced next week.)

It is said that only our faith and understanding of God’s Word and truth will be able to see us through the difficult, confusing and disturbing times ahead.

Join a CBSI class closest to you and your future is assured by Him who holds the future.

National Director dines with Lord Carey

Our National Director, Rev Fred David had the privilege of dining with Lord and Lady Carey in Yangon on 23 November at the invitation of Archbishop Stephen and Nan. Fred first met Lord & Lady Carey when they visited him as Archdeacon of the Interior in the Diocese of Sabah. Archbishop Carey was on a visit to Sabah Diocese. He traveled with Bishop Yong Ping Chung from Kota Kinabalu to the Interior and experience the Borneo tropical monsoon at its height. Because of landslides, they had to walk and change vehicles to get to Telupid. Lord Carey also reminded me (I was translating for him,) that, that was the first time he was stopped in his preaching. It really rained.

It is wonderful that as we serve God He leads us to people who also love and serve the lord faithfully where we can mutually encourage and spur one another on in His Work.

I am aware that many of you, including some of our Directors will be traveling to be with families overseas. May I wish you travel mercies and God’s blessing. May this time with families be one of great joy and happiness. May their families too be blessed this Christmastide.

Partnerships

In extending the Kingdom of God and seeing the Great Commission fulfilled, one person or a sole organization is unable to do it. Partnerships are the way to go in missions these days.I believe that in the many facets of our church and Christian life, partnership comes into play. It is very humbling to realize that we need one another in achieving God’s purpose for our time.

Potential Classes for 2012

Please be in prayer, as discussions continue for the opening of new classes for 2012. A second class in JB, a new class in Bukit Mertajam and a class in Sunway Damansara. Please also pray that another class in Ipoh will can be started.

We want to thank you for your prayers for the Asia Pacific Regional Director, Peter Hanscamp who was in hospital recently. Praise God the Peter is well and will be back at his desk in a couple of days. Our God is a prayer answering God. Amen.

Asia Pacific Regional Director

As some of you know that Peter Hanscamp our AP Regional Director has been unwell for a while. Peter now needs to undergo a heart surgery on Friday 14 October 2011 in Hamilton, in New Zealand. Please pray for God’s protection for Peter and also God’s comfort and strength for Mathilde, Peter’s wife.
