A time to share God’s Goodness

Christmas is here again. Everyone is excited about this wonderful season of the year. But the truth is that not everyone understands this life changing gift that was given at Christmas. It is the gift of salvation.

The Bible tells us in the gospel of Luke chapter 2. 8-20, that when the shepherds had heard the news of the birth of Jesus, they went in search of the baby. Many times, in our generation, if we lose something, yes, we do look for it. But if we cannot find it, we will let it be. The many parables that Jesus told about the lost was that it was eventually found. This Christmas gift of salvation calls us to live a fruitful, meaningful and blessed Christian life. This is our spiritual challenge. May we become like the shepherds telling everyone that Jesus Christ is born.

This Christmas help someone find Jesus!

CBSI Malaysia gives thanks to God for his faithfulness and grace in the last 20 years. Rev Fred David, who was on a Sabbatical in Austin, Texas 1996-1997, came across a CBS class at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church outside Austin. He was impressed at what he saw, as he was looking for something in strengthen his training of Evangelists in Sabah, Malaysia. He was put in touch with Earl and Betty Reeves who were Calebs and overseeing the CBSI ministry in South East Asia. Earl and Betty then trained Rev Fred in Singapore and that led to the first CBSI class in Malaysia in the Interior of Sabah in 1998

CBSI Malaysia recognizes the great and valuable contribution by the Reeves. We thank God for their love for God and his people. Their warmth and willingness to just to see people getting into God’s Word.

Earl and Betty, you are fondly remembered by the early CBSI team. Thank you and God give you health and joy in the days ahead.

Condolences to sister Esther Richard

The late Mr. Devadas Dorairaj

The late Mr. Devadas Dorairaj

Early on Sunday 29 June, Mr. Devadas Dorairaj, the husband of our PJ Class Coordinator and Teaching Leader, Esther Richards went to be with the Lord. The late Mr. Devadas in addition to being a wonderful husband and father was an educationist, Christian leader and an churchman. In his early days he and Esther went out with a team to plant a church in Puchong under the Anglican Diocese of West Malaysia. He also served with NECF as their prayer coordinator for a time. In the mid 2000 he went to Sabah to help All Saints Cathedral, Kota Kinabalu. He had a passion for the Lord and when any door opened for the work of the Lord to be extended, Devadas would never hesitate to seize the opportunity for the Lord.

CBSI Malayisa National Director, Rev Fred David preached at the funeral service at the request of the family. He spoke on Revelation 21.1-7 the passage that the family had chosen.

To our dear sister Esther, CBSI Malaysia and especially the PJ Class convey our deepest sympathies and are praying that the Holy Spirit God’s comforter will be your strength and guide in your loss.

Blessed Easter

Easter Graden at Peace Community Church

Easter Graden at Peace Community Church

The Board of Directors and leaders of the CBSI Ministry in Malaysia wish all members a Blessed Easter 2014. The message of the angel in Matthew 28.1-10 is that “He is Risen” and was waiting for his disciples in Galilee. God had broken through into their world then and what was left as evidence was the empty tomb and the grave clothes.

A little boy at the worship this morning look into the tomb of the Easter Garden set up in church and looked a little puzzle. I asked him, “what did you see?” His answer was “nothing!” I was so relived. Because Jesus is risen from the dead. He defeated the last enemy and placed the angel sitting now victoriously over the tomb. The angel then asked the women to tell the brothers to go to Galilee where they will meet with Him.

Thus Easter for us is to share of this great hope, the greatest love displayed and do the great challenge before us – to tell others about the Risen Saviour.

A Blessed Easter to you and your families.
