Give Sunday back to God!

At the PJ Class last night, the level of discussion was one of great excitement. The study focused on the passage of John 5:8-30. It was about Jesus being the “Lord of the Sabbath” The thrust of the discussion was what is the “Sabbath” in our generation and how should the church and Christians keep this? At the same time not wanting to create traditions that would one day become a burden to us and our children.

In the lecture that was given, our teaching director, expounded on the authority of Christ, his ability to explain to his accusers and the abundance of grace on the part of God in dealing with men determines the supremacy of the Son of God. The apostle John strongly points to the insufficiency of the Law with the coming of Christ. The law was always suppose to be a guide or a sign post. Thus Christ comes as the fulfillment of the law.

So the Sabbath was made for man and Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. Thus, as Christians and the church, we need to find ways to honor God on the Sabbath. One way is to be doing what the Father wants to be done. Giving Sunday back to God.

Happy Labour Day

For all PJ class members, please be informed that there will not be a class on Tuesday 1 May as it is Labour Day. Class will resume on Tuesday 8 May. Have a great Labour Day holiday.

Thinking of this, should not we put a greater emphasis on “Keeping Sunday, as the Lord’s Day.” If the world can recognise and set a day for all the workers in the world, should we not take the Lord’s Sabbath (Sunday) more seriously. Can I ask you to think of making your Sunday worship a priority this year. This will greatly set in motion the revival in our land.

Tuseday is PJ Class Day

We will be studying John 4:43- 5:15. Hope you are enjoying this lesson. Jesus knew that the crippled man at the pool was a sinner yet He healed him, only cautioning him to sin no more. This is the Father’s love for us!

Easter Break

The PJ and Bandar Utama Classes will take a short break for Passion Week and Easter. Classes will resume after Easter. Tuesday 10 April for the PJ Class and Friday 20 for the Bandar Utama Class.

Have a meaningful Passion Week

The Divine Teacher

Mrs Glo Rajendram one of the other ATL gave last Tuesday’s lecture at the PJ Class. Being a teacher herself, it was evident to see the passion in teaching God’s Word. She asked if anyone present was confronted by the question, “have you been saved?” She was recollecting the past where these were the sort of distinctions made of Christians. She put this in the context of Nicodemus coming to Jesus by night, taking that initiative to seek Jesus out for a personal time. He realized that there was something of “a spiritual transformation” that was needed in his time. Jesus saw that he man man must know the truth so that his spiritual eyes could be opened and thus inherit the Kingdom of God. Jesus helps Nicodemus’ understanding by drawing a comparison between the wind and the Holy Spirit. Has any man able to control the wind? In the same way no man will be able to control the Holy Spirit when it comes. Thus the challenge for us is to look outwards to God’s presence in the world. To look inwards to see what we need for our spiritual lives and to look upwards to what Jesus had done on the cross.

New Comers to PJ Class

ATL at PJ Class

We praise God that the last few weeks we are seeing new members joining the PJ Class. Friends have informed them that there is a great Bible Study on Tuesday nights in town. We praise God for this. This is an encouragement to the Teaching Leaders and also a challenge to bring the best of God’s word to his people in their lectures.

The last 2 week we have had our Assistant Teaching Leaders to give the lectures.

Esther Richards spoke on the theme “Jesus The Reformer” (John 2:12-25) She challenged the class with a statement” Faith is not a convenience for us” She went on to speak about Jesus’ zeal for His Father’s House that saw a display of physical force combined with a righteous anger and his spiritual intolerance. He was always the Son of the Father and therefore the Messiah who is to come. Thus his zeal was to restore the temple to its Godly purpose.

New Semester -John’s Gospel in PJ

The class coordinator Bro Thomas Kong, began the class by welcoming all old and new members to another semester. The class is studying the Gospel According to John and Rev Fred David, the National Director and also Teaching leader gave the Introductory lecture. About 35 were present and we expect more to be joining the class in the next 2 or 3 weeks.

If you know of anyone who desires to study the word of God, please give them an invitation to the class. You may be doing them the greatest favour in their lives.

The Apostle John says, ” But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have eternal life” (John 20:31)

If you want to know about this eternal life, please attend our classes or ask a Christian friend to explain to you. If you cannot find someone, drop us a note and we will put someone in touch with you.
To all at the PJ Class, Happy studying God’s Word.

PJ Class Commences – 21 February

Greetings and hope that you have had a great Chinese New year. It will soon be back to serious study and application of God’s Word in our daily lives.

The PJ Class will now commence their semester on 21 February 2012. This will be the Introduction and the Background of the Gospels. Please sign up with Class Coordinator, Thomas Kong or with St. Paul’s Church.

We will be studying the Gospel of John. It will be another 30 week study. But we have broken it into 2 semester:
1. 21 February – 12 June 2012
2. 10 July – 16 October 2012

Do invite your friends and family to come to another exciting year of going deeper into God’s word. As I wrote in our New Year’s message,”It is only the word of God that will sustain us through the darkness in the world. We are called to be lights in places of darkness. Be a light for Christ.

PJ Class finishes ACTS

We praise God that the PJ class has completed their study of the Acts of the Apostles. (30 weeks) The last class for the year was held yesterday Monday 24 October 2011.
There were 7 members who had a 100% attendance. We praise God for their love for God’s word. Fred David as he gave the final summary lecture for Acts, challenged the members that they in their own spiritual journey with the Lord, could leave a legacy for the next generation. A different story of the faith of present day saints needs to be written for our Church history. Learning from Paul of his ministry and sacrifices will help us fulfill God’s will and purpose in our generation.

In his closing prayers, Fred prayed and thanked God for commitment of the small group leaders, the assistant teaching leaders and above all for the Class Coordinator for all his efforts and encouragement to get people into God's Word Everywhere.

Serious but Joyful time!

I had the privilege of sitting in on a class as I was not doing the summary lecture tonight. It was a wonderful experience as I observed that there was both the seriousness to God’s Word and at the same the “the joy of the Lord” was evident in class members. It was wonderful to see that they have grown in the depth of the relationship with the Lord and also in the understanding of His Word. Nesam who was the small group leader at one point shared her personal testimony of how God turned the tables on those who had opposed her family. This was in the context of Acts of the Apostles Chapter 18 where Gallio, the proconsul found no wrong in the accusations brought against Paul by the Jews. God said to Paul ” For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you,”
