Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent, is a solemn time for Christians for 40 days before Easter.
Most commonly observed by Catholics, Anglicans, Episcopalians and Lutherans, but of late many non-liturgical churches are observing this season in the Christian calendar. Ash Wednesday falls on the seventh Wednesday before Easter. During Lent Christians are encouraged to fast, pray, give alms and seek repentance for their sins. Some Christians abstain from a normal part of their daily routine during Lent to remind them of the sacrifice of Christ. Some might refrain from eating certain favorite foods or from fun activities.
The solemn proceedings that occur on Ash Wednesday are intended to bring the focus back to the sacrifice of Christ and the mission of the Church. The observance most likely comes from the Biblical Day of Atonement mentioned in Leviticus 16, in which the Lord established an annual day of repentance for the Israelites as a lasting ordinance for all their generations.
On this day, Christians were to come before a priest or minister to receive the sign of the cross, marked in ashes on their foreheads, as a way to remember: Ashes to ashes and the words: “Remember man that thou art dust and unto dust thou shall return.”
So we pray, as Christians we will have a desire to deepen our relationship with the Lord, and may the Holy Spirit guide us as we meditate on his Word this Lent.
Welcome to Lent!
Happy Chinese New Year
The Board of Directors and National Director of CBSI Malaysia, wish all our members and friends a Blessed and Joyful Lunar New Year. We pray that God will give you a fruitful time as you gather as families to celebrate the New Year. We pray too, that God will open doors for you to share of His goodness and love to them. This is the best “Ang Pow” (red packets that are traditionally give during the festival) that you can give to them.
Please take this time too, to share with your friends the Ministry of CBSI Malaysia and to give them an invitation to join a class close to them. This will greatly please the Lord.

We are now in the 2nd week of the 2013. I take this opportunity to wish all CBSI class members in Malaysia a Blessed New Year. I pray that you have had a great Christmas and New Year. We welcome back all who have been away for the holidays and trust that your time with families and friends have been a blessing.
As we enter 2013, the Lord has assured me that this will be a year of increase, a year of obedience and a year of Blessings. Thus there will be a lot of waiting upon the Lord this year. We need to hear clearly His word and command for us, so that we can walk into the blessings he has in store for us.
His word for us this year is from Deuteronomy 30.11 says “nothing is too difficult or beyond your reach”
How comforting as we begin this New Year. May I ask you to covenant to pray for CBSI Malaysia that we will grow and be a blessing to the nation. Pray that when we encounter trials and hardships, these words “nothing is too difficult or beyond your reach” will be our portion from the Lord
A Blessed New Year.

Advent – Season of Watch!
Beginning four Sundays before Christmas, its purpose is twofold: first, it prepares us for the celebration of the birth of Christ and second, it reminds us that we are eagerly waiting for Jesus’ return in glory.
The word “advent” originates from the Latin word advenio which means coming to. Advent is the time when we focus on Christ coming to the world. Throughout history, the Israelites anticipated the coming of their Messiah. In the Old Testament, over 400 scriptures and prophecies outline His birth, life, death, resurrection, and return. God had a plan to redeem His people. He declared His plan to His prophets over the centuries and is fulfilling His Word even now.
“Prepare the way of the Lord” serves as a main theme of this season. As we get ready for Christmas, we should not neglect to prepare our lives for Jesus, who came as “the light of the world.” His light penetrated a dark world, which allowed all to see their Messiah, and the hope of their future.
Today we need to be prepared for the coming of Christ. Learning more about what the Bible reveals about Christ’s return will enable us to understand the possible significance of world events.
Be ready and watchful, for the light of the world has come and will surely come again.
