Everyone in the World…in the Word

End of Semester -JB

EndofSemThe JB last met on Thursday 29 November for their last class on Ephesians. It was a time of thanksgiving and encouraging one another. The Class Coordinator Dr. Low spoke of how he was encouraged and strengthen by the class study and the lectures. Rev Fred thanked all for their eagerness to study God’s word. He himself has grown through the sharing and experiences of class members. He appealed to all that as they come again in the New year, that each be challenged to bring one new person to study God’s Word.

Advent Blessing to all.

The PJ Class will meet on Tuesday 13 November at 8.00pm for their last class as they finish their study on the Gospel of John. It has been a very challenging study for all, yet there were some great spiritual gems that we have all learnt.

It is encouraging to see many who have been so regular and consistent in their study of God’s word. They contributions to the class discussion was invaluable and at the same time a great help to one another.

What a wonderful way to spur each other in the study of His Word.

1st National Conference

A great time

Our speaker Rev Bill Crowder commented, “I did not think that there was a place like this in Kuala Lumpur” He was referring to the conference venue at the CheFoo Methodist Centre, Cameron Highlands. The weather was just cool and fine and the quietness was indeed a blessing.

30 members of the various CBSI classes in the country gathered at this Conference Center from 1-3 October 2012 for our 1st National Conference. Rev Bill Crowder spoke on the theme: “Spotlight of Faith” in 3 sessions:
1. Barnabas: The Encourager
2. Martha: The Misunderstood
3. Job: The Sufferer.
He brought God’s word in a fresh and unique way helping us to see things that we never considered before. Thanks Bill!

Our Morning Devotions were taken by the Rev Albert Selwyn from Singapore. There were equipping sessions on the 2nd day.

Apart from feeding on God’s word, we had a great Bar-b-que with invited friends and this gave the members the opportunity to share their excitement and joy in being a member of a CBSI Class. One member was heard to be saying, ” You must not miss this, start soon!”

Rev Fred David, our National Director, in his closing address shared the plans and vision of the ministry in the coming years. The need for more members to become teaching leaders and for all to be ambassadors introducing the Ministry of CBSI Malaysia to as many as possible.

We now look forward to the 2014 Conference, where we will celebrate with thanksgiving 15 years of CBSI Ministry in Malaysia. We thank God for his goodness to us at the Conference.

Growing small group leaders

a new small group leader

It is wonderful to see that many of those that we have trained have done a wonderful job leading their small groups. The class in JB has been encouraging many to step up to be trained as Small Group Leaders.

The Pastor has informed me that they are now ready to further extend the ministry of CBSI in the South in the coming year. Praise God.

CBSI is a wonderful ministry to help your class be a blessing to others.

We are fast filling up the number of places for the Conference. Please note that the closing date is Monday 24 September. We have members as far north as Ipoh and South from Johor Bharu attending the conference.

For those who would like to play golf, please bring your clubs. There will be an opportunity to T-off with the Board of Directors.

Keeping it up!

Today’s class in Damansara was well attended despite the evening showers that threatened earlier. They class studied Ephesian 3:1-4:16. The lecture was given by Rev Fred David speaking on ” God’s Ideal for a Church” He dealt on the following sub themes:
1. Paul’s Stewardship for the Gospel: where the grace of God was so instrumental in Paul’s calling and ministry
2. Paul’s Strengthening of the Church: Inspired by the love that dwells in our hearts to be the foundation of our Christian lives that focuses on the love of Christ.
3. Paul’s Secret of the Body life: That is seen in the calling of all believers to exercise their gifts for the building up of the Body.

The ultimate aim of Christians is to maintain the unity of the Faith, to grow in the knowledge of the Son of God and to be matured in Christ.

“love one another”

Assistant Teaching leader, Esther Richards gave an inspiring lecture last night at the PJ Class as she concluded John 13. One of the things she mentioned was how concern Jesus was for Judas. Jesus was not afraid of being betrayed, but what the betrayal would do for Judas. Jesus wanted Judas to live. But his weakness was greed. It is sad that he never dealt with that despite of the many opportunities that the Lord had given and showed him. But Judas allowed himself to be swallowed by the Prince of Darkness as he walked out into the darkness. He chose the darkness when the Light was always beside him.

Thought for the Week

Our relationship with God can influence a whole generation. How awesome! But it would be sad if the next generation did not know of this and went after other Gods. The first commandment given would be the first commandment broken. We pray that God will give us the wisdom to use what’s in our hands today and seize the opportunities that God has created for serving Him. (Encounter with God)
