Everyone in the World…in the Word

Mary Das (left) Mary James (right)

Our class in Klang is honoured to have 2 Marys. One is May Das who is the class coordinator and looks to getting all the material ready while the other is Mary James who sees that each week various groups will be responsible for the refreshments for the members. We praise God for their services to making members feel: Comfortable, Confident and Cared

Welcome to Pyin Oo Lwin

Fred David was in Myanmar from 21-30 July 2010 helping to set up the School of Evangelists and Church Planters for the Anglican Church in Myanmar. This was in the Hill Station of Pyin Oo Lwin. This is a town 3500 ft above sea-level where in the past the English in the cities of Rangoon and Mandalay would retreat for the summer. The weather is so pleasant that you could be out for the whole days and not feel tired.

Studying Book of James

Part of the training was to teach the participants to do Bible Study. Fred choose to do the book of James and thus was able to introduce them to CBSI. Praise God for the opportunity. The participants are going to take these studies in their own native languages to the various areas they are assigned to work.

Town's main taxi service

There was an atmosphere of excitement as the Klang Class began their new semester. They are studying the Book of Daniel. 40 members attended the Introductory session led by Rev Fred David. They are expecting many more to attend. A special invitation was given to all youths. Rev Fred in his lecture said that this is one study that will help our youths in these difficult days to stand firm in their faith.

Still mentoring

CBSI Malaysia together with St. Paul’s Anglican Church, PJ hosted a Mentoring Conference in partnership with EYL (Emerging Young Leaders). Sam and Priscilla Balachandran from Bangalore, India shared from their own life experiences on how effective mentoring can be. The excitement in them was to see the transformation that the Lord brought in the many lives that crossed their paths.

The Conference was spread over 2 nights and a whole Saturday. The night meetings dealt with how parents could mentor their children.
There was a total of 45 participants and the feedback from one mother was “If I had attended a seminar of this nature years ago, I would have parented my children differently”

A youth leader had this to say, ” I now understand better to help the young people with me.”

What surprised me most was that some senior members came to attend the conference. What a great support and encouragement. Even at their age, mentoring can still be used. Amen

Congratulations brother!

Surprised 1 John is over!

It is with thanksgiving to God that we rejoice, that the JB class has finished 1st. John. We praise God that there has been almost 86% attendance. The National Director has been asked to preach in Church in September and give out the certificates to all who completed the class. This is the first time CBSI Malaysia is doing this. Praise the Lord.

Next week will see the JB class concluding their study on 1 John. The attendance has been consistent and it has been a great joy to teach this class. They are planning a “Graduation” time where class members will give their testimony especially how God has shaped their lives through the studies. We hope that the new members to the class will also have the courage to share.

This will be the first time that we will be awarding class members certificates.

The dates have been fixed for the next round of classes in Klang which will be held at St. Barnabas Church. They have decided to do the Book of Daniel and it will commence on 2nd August 2010 and will run till November 2010.

Please let your friends know of this and it will be a great opportunity for them top study a great book of the Old Testament. Rev Fred David will once again do the teaching with Dr. Viji Daniel assisting him.

Please contact Mary Das the class coordinator for the Klang class. Her contact is: 017-3182-509

Covenant Letter

We have just been informed that with immediate effect, all classes using the CBSI material will need to sign a Covenant. This is needed because of the copy rights law in the US. This is good working ethics, however must never hinder the growth of classes or getting people into the Word.

A training for Teaching Leaders and potential TLs will take place from 24-25 September 2010. There will be about 12 to be trained and God willing about 2 or 3 from Sarawak and Sabah will be able to join those from West Malaysia. Please pray that we will be able to find the finance to run this training and especially to bring the Leaders from the various parts of the country to Kuala Lumpur.

It is also hoped that at this training we will have some who will also be fluent in Mandarin, Tamil and Bahasa Malaysia. The hope is that a number of other than English language classes evolved.
